Glenribbeen Self Catering Apartment.

Special Offer for March - July 2011One gets immersed in music lessons and archery during the visit, also lunch with one 'run' down the Blackwater River from Lismore to Cappoquin - over 4 sets of rapids in a Canadian canoe! (Takes about 2 - 3 hrs). As well as that a day's fishing on a trout-lake (Cappa-Lakes) or a canoe safari will be arranged. All for an all-in-price of €450,- for up to 5persons including one weeks self-catering in Glenribbeen Eco Apartment. Visits to Lismore Heritage Centre and Lismore Castle Gardens and Art Gallery can be arranged.

The Self-Catering Apartment has been built as eco-friendly as possible and to the best standards of access-4-all is set in the heart of County Waterford. The apartment sleeps 5 adults; also has a futon that opens to a double bed in main lounge. There are 2 bedrooms / 1. twin beds and 2. a double. The double bed-room has a single bed in an annex (with wash-hand-basin) and these also opens to the rear garden. The apartment has a dishwasher as well as clotheswasher.  Apartment accommodation has satellite TV, DVD, CD & radio/cassette player as well as playing cards, ring-board and dart-board.

Dogs are welcome but please be aware the hens take the concept of ‘free-range’ (12.00-18.00hrs daily) very seriously. A hen-pecked nose may cause offence.

The car park opens directly onto the entrance to the accommodation. The rear door of the apartment opens to the North garden via a glass-covered veranda (with gas-BBQ).

Els and Peter O’Connor’s very special B&B near has recently been awarded the prestigious EU Green Flower Award for Eco-Accommodation – the first in this part of Ireland to achieve the commendation, and one of only 125 in Europe, it speaks volumes for this hospitable couple’s commitment to the environment.

And you’d know it anyway, as soon as you arrive and see the sign warning guests to be careful and watch out for red squirrels but, for those who wonder if the whole thing might be a bit too hippy for them, be reassured that it’s a perfectly normal, comfortable house with everything that ordinary people need when breaking a journey or – more likely - want a relaxingly low-key holiday here fishing for salmon or brown trout on the River Blackwater, or walking/cycling.

It’s a great area for walkers of all levels of ability and experience, and Peter and Els provide guests with maps and directions and then send them on their way - some walks begin right at the front gate. Some last 10mins....... some go on a lifetime.

Garden games - Archery, boules, horse-shoes, skittles, throw-ball, rings/darts and more. The accommodation also has wet-weather gear, life-preservers, fishing-tackle and musical instruments.

Archery and music lessons can be arranged as can bike/canoe hire. In summer there is a great outdoor/surf rental business at Clonee Beach 20Kms ast of us.
NB there is an electricity meter to monitor consumption. A generous allowance of 100kW per week is allowed.

Bedroom 2 Door leads to stone(glass-covered) veranda and  to garden. We generally have the "Traditional Irish BBQ" (gas-under-glass) here. The bike shed, canoe and surf-board are around the corner.
